Sunday, August 30, 4pm Watch and Plan the Online Launch of REVOLUTION DVD

Be part of planning the online launch of Revolution: Why It's Necessary, Why It's Possible, What It's All About, a film of a talk by Bob Avakian, which goes online starting on Tuesday, September 1, 2009. We will play clips of the DVD and have a discussion. Bring your ideas about promoting the online launch and getting everyone organized to be part of this.

There is nothing online like THIS film: nothing that gets at these questions as deeply, thoroughly and truthfully as this. Millions of people are searching for the truth, and watching videos, short and long. Some of these give part of the answer; but some of them-including some of the most popular-give people bullshit answers, pointing people in the wrong direction and spreading poison. Here, and all over the world, people need to see Revolution: Why It's Necessary, Why It's Possible, What It's All About.

YOU are needed to spread this.
Here are 4 ways to get this film out:

1. On 9.1.09, embed the clips or the full film onto your sites, post it on message boards, discussion groups... wherever people are debating big questions.
2. Download the promotional materials that are up at revcom.us and get them up in your dorm rooms, housing projects, local coffee shop.
3. Talk with your friends, bloggers, fellow FBers, twitterers, etc. about taking this up as well-anyone you know who hates the way things are and is hungering to understand the world and be part of changing it radically. Send out email announcements about the online launch now.
4. Contribute financially to spread the Revolution talk online even further. Starting Sept. 1 contributions can be made at revolutiontalk.net.

Upcoming Discussions @ Revolution Books

This Sunday, August, 23, 4pm
Ruminations and Wranglings: On the Importance of Marxist Materialism, Communism as a Science, Meaningful Revolutionary Work, and a Life with Meaning

Part 8: Winning People to be Communists, Emancipators of Humanity
By Bob Avakian, Chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA.

In light of that, I want to speak once again to the crucial importance of bringing forward and continually strengthening the communist solid core of, in turn, a broader revolutionary movement-a movement aiming for revolution and nothing less. This stresses once again the great importance of struggling to win people to the whole orientation of being emancipators of humanity, in opposition to notions of revenge-"the last shall be first, and the first shall be last"; "this is my chance to have a go at being in the top position," and so on-which is, to a large degree, the spontaneous way in which people see the question of change in society, when and insofar as they think about this. So there has to be a struggle for people to break out of, to rupture with, that outlook, and to become emancipators of humanity-to be striving consciously for the abolition of not just this or that particular oppressive relation, and not just a change of place within the framework of oppression and exploitation, but the abolition of all oppression and exploitation throughout the world. The topic will be the recent statement in Revolution newspaper #170 called:
The Revolution We Need... The Leadership We Have
A Message, And A Call, From The Revolutionary Communist Party, USA
This Is NOT The Best of All Possible Worlds... And We Do NOT Have to Live This Way

"The land of the free, and the home of the brave." "The leader of the free world." That's what they always say about this country. But this is a Big Lie.

The truth is that we live under a system that, from the start in this country, built up its wealth and power by enslaving millions of Black people, stealing land from Indians and Mexicans through war and genocide, and working many people, including children, literally to death. It is by such murderous means that this system has expanded "from sea to shining sea" across this continent-and around the whole world. It is a system of capitalism-imperialism...a system in which U.S. imperialism is the most monstrous, most oppressive superpower....

This Sunday, Aug. 9, 4pm, What a Revolution really is..and really is not

What a Revolution really is..and really is not
Part 7 of Ruminations and Wranglings: On the Importance of Marxist Materialism, Communism as a Science, Meaningful Revolutionary Work, and a Life with Meaning, by Bob Avakian, Chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA.

What a revolution really is...and really is not This question is not only important in a general and fundamental sense, but it takes on particular significance in relation to the current "Obama phenomenon," and some of the deeper emotions his candidacy-and still more his election (and inauguration)-have called forth, and the ways in which, sad to say, this has blinded some people to what Obama is really all about and the actual nature of the system of which he's a part, of which in fact he is now the chief executive and commander-in-chief.

Demarcations
A Journal of Communist Theory and Polemic

Why Demarcations? Why Now?Demarcations: A Journal of Communist Theory and Polemic seeks to set forth, defend, and further advance the theoretical framework for the beginning of a new stage of communist revolution in the contemporary world. This journal will promote the perspectives of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA.Without revolutionary theory, there can be no revolutionary movement. Without drawing sharp dividing lines between communism as a living, critical, and developing science serving the emancipation of humanity, on the one hand, and other perspectives, paths, and programs that cannot lead to emancipation, on the other-whether openly reformist or claiming the mantle or moniker of "communism"-without making such demarcations, it will not be possible to achieve the requisite understanding and clarity to radically change the world. Demarcations will contribute to achieving that clarity.
