Sunday Evening: Join Occupy Atlanta General Assembly
Discussion at Revolution Books Atlanta
Sunday October 30, 6:00pm
Gather at the store and together we will go to the new location of Occupy Atlanta and be a part of their general assembly at 8pm.
In the wee hours of the night on Tuesday into Wednesday, the mayor of Atlanta, Kasim Reed ordered the Atlanta police department, clothed with plastic handcuffs and goggles and backed up by riot squads, to clear Occupy Atlanta from Troy Davis Park (formerly Woodruff Park). They arrested 52 courageous people who refused to leave the park in an act of civil disobiedience. This outrageous move on the part of the city of Atlanta who so proudly touts its reputation as the city of the "Civil Rights Movement" now turns around and shuts down a righteous occupation.
But this is so not over! Occupy Atlanta has announced that they are regrouping and are planning to re-occupy in a new location. They will have nightly general assembly meetings in Centennial Park at 8:00 PM. This occupation needs to be supported and widened.
Come to the bookstore and together we will go to the new location of Occupy Atlanta and be a part of their general assembly Sunday evening at 8pm.
Across the country the occupations have been attacked, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Oakland (viciously), and others. For updates check in with Revolution newspaper, often.
